Fosamax (Alendronate) Information : FOSAMAX is a bisphosphonate used
to prevent and treat osteoporosis. FOSAMAX may also be used to treat
other conditions as determined by your doctor. Both the 40mg and 70mg
dose are to be taken once a week. Choose the day of the week that best
fits your schedule. TAKE THIS MEDICINE with 6-8 ounces of PLAIN WATER
ONLY the first thing in the morning, at least 30 minutes before eating,
drinking, or taking any other medicine. This medicine works even better
if you take it 60 minutes before eating, drinking, or taking any other
medicine. This medicine is effective only if taken on an empty stomach.
DO NOT CHEW OR SUCK on this medicine. DO NOT LIE DOWN for at least 30
minutes after taking this medicine and until after your first food of
the day. Calcium or iron supplements, vitamins, or antacids containing
calcium, magnesium, or aluminum may interfere with the absorption of
this medicine. Take these products or any other medicines at least 30
minutes after taking alendronate. STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature
in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS
A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it on the morning after you remember.
DO NOT take 2 doses at once.
Fosamax (Alendronate) Side Effects : FOSAMAX Side Effects that may go
away during treatment, include stomach pain, muscle pain, headache,
constipation, stomach gas, bloating, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, or
diarrhea. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.
CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience worsening severe heartburn,
or pain upon swallowing.

You now have the opportunity to choose between FOSAMAX Once Weekly and
FOSAMAX Once Daily. The once-weekly option may be more convenient for
some patients. FOSAMAX Once Weekly FOSAMAX Once Weekly is the first
hormone-free tablet for the prevention and treatment of postmenopausal
osteoporosis. FOSAMAX is available in a once-weekly tablet and is proven
to help build bone. FOSAMAX Once Weekly was shown in a study to be as
effective as FOSAMAX Once Daily in increasing bone density. How to Take
FOSAMAX 70 mg Once Weekly: Choose the day of the week that best fits
your schedule. Every week, take one FOSAMAX Once Weekly tablet on your
chosen day. After getting up for the day and before taking your first
food, beverage, or other medication, swallow (do not chew or suck) one
FOSAMAX tablet with a full glass (6–8 oz) of plain water on an
empty stomach. Do not take FOSAMAX at bedtime or before arising for
the day. Begin your morning activities…but don’t lie down,
eat, drink, or take other medication for at least 30 minutes. If you
want to lie down after 30 minutes, you must eat breakfast first. Remember
to take one FOSAMAX tablet once each week on that same day for as long
as your doctor prescribes it. If you miss a dose, take one FOSAMAX tablet
on the morning after you remember. Do not take two tablets on the same
day. Return to taking one tablet once a week, as originally scheduled

Important Information About FOSAMAX You should not use FOSAMAX if you
have certain disorders of the esophagus (the tube connecting the mouth
with the stomach), are unable to stand or sit upright for 30 minutes,
have severe kidney disease, low blood calcium, or are allergic to FOSAMAX.
Before use, talk to your doctor if you have stomach or digestive problems.
Stop taking FOSAMAX and tell your doctor if you develop new or worsening
heartburn, difficult or painful swallowing, or chest pain because these
may be signs of serious upper digestive problems which can include irritation,
inflammation, or ulceration of the esophagus. (See Patient Product Information
for more details.) Digestive side effects in studies were generally
mild and included stomach pain, indigestion/heartburn, or nausea. FOSAMAX
Once Daily In clinical studies: FOSAMAX Once Daily prevented osteoporosis
in postmenopausal women at risk. FOSAMAX Once Daily treated osteoporosis
in postmenopausal women. FOSAMAX Once Daily helped build bone and reduced
the chance of fractures, including those at the spine and hip in postmenopausal
women with osteoporosis. FOSAMAX has been proven to help build bone.
Increases in bone mass were evident as early as 3 months after therapy
was begun. How to Take FOSAMAX 10 mg Once Daily: After getting up for
the day, swallow (do not chew or suck) one FOSAMAX tablet with a full
glass (6–8 oz) of plain water only. Do not take FOSAMAX at bedtime,
